Welcome to the Sri Lanka Project

The British Refugee Council established the Sri Lanka Project in December 1987, on the request of international NGOs.

The objective of the Project is to provide information on Sri Lanka, with a focus on displacement and human rights, which is likely to be of value to voluntary agencies and others in decision-making.

The Project functions as part of the Information Team under the Communications Group within the Refugee Council. The work of the Project is supervised by an Advisory Committee, comprising international NGOs, including the Refugee Council.

The Sri Lanka Monitor

The monthly newsletter the Sri Lanka Monitor is published continuously since February 1988. Issues since April 1996 are available on this site. The Sri Lanka Monitor mainly deals with the events relating to the refugee, human rights and political situation in Sri Lanka.
